Beauty Starts Within

Updated: Jul 14, 2019

The older I get the more I realize how important it is to truly take care of your body. When I was younger I thought that meant just eating salad, thank God for growth. Lol Now I find myself packing multivitamins and supplements on the go or even when I’m going out of town. Recently I lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time and after feeling like my mind and body was out of whack I went to visit my primary care doctor. She brought it to my attention that when I lost 40 pounds in three months I lost hormones with the fat. Crazy right? Men and women can experience hormonal imbalances and if you are not eating a balanced diet and taking a multivitamin at the least you will have to learn to live with it. It could make your mind and body feel like a rollercoaster. I’ll share a few of my go to vitamins and supplements that have worked for me below! Remember beauty is from the inside out, take care of your body and it will take care of you back.

Vitamin D3

Your body naturally produces vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight, sometimes skin complexion, dark clothes, age, little exposure to sunlight or protective clothing can limit the amount of vitamin D you receive. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, depression and weight gain. Your body must have vitamin D to absorb calcium and promote bone growth. (WebMD)

Calcium

In addition to building bones and keeping them healthy, calcium enables our blood to clot, our muscles to contract, and our heart to beat. When we don’t get the calcium we need it is taken from our bones. Every day we lose calcium through our skin, nails, hair, sweat, urine and feces. Our body cannot make calcium. Magnesium

Magnesium is important for many processes in the body, including regulating muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure and making protein, bone and DNA. Sign of magnesium deficiency include muscle twitches and cramps, mental disorders, osteoporosis, fatigue, high blood pressure, asthma and irregular heartbeat. (Healthline)

B Complex

These supplements usually pack all eight B vitamins into one pill. B complex vitamins can be beneficial to your metabolism, energy, dna production, hormone production, cholesterol, red and white blood cell production and neurological function. A defiency of these vitamins could include loss of muscle strength, fatigue, forgetfulness, pale skin, dizziness, anxiety, bumps on tongue and vision changes. (Facty Health)

Vitamin E

The key for strong immunity, healthy skin and eyes is vitamin E. People on low fat diets may have low levels of vitamin E. Vitamin E also has antioxidant properties. It is essential to the nervous system but vitamin E deficiency is rare. (Medical News Today)

Apple Cider Vinegar

Some benefits of apple cider vinegar that are backed by science include weight loss, decreased body fat, decreased blood sugar levels, reduced cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Multivitamins

Everyone should take a multivitamin, we should even give our toddlers multivitamins. As a woman I like multivitamins that support hair, skin, nails, immunity and energy. There are so many different brands on the market.

Chlorophyll

The benefits of chorophyll include skin healing, blood builder, detoxification, weight loss and it’s a natural internal deodorant.

Preworkout

Pre workout supplements are taken to give you the edge to burn more fat, recover faster or maximize your performance.

Collagen

The top five benefits of collagen are it eases joint pain, reverses skin aging, builds muscle and burns fat, reduces cellulite and improves digestive health.

Protein powder

Protein is an essential macronutirent that helps build muscle, repair tissue, and make enzymes and hormones. Using protein powder also helps improve muscle tone and aids in weight loss.
